Cranston West students graduate the Pre-ETS Tri-Employment Program Published on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 May 21st marked the close of another successful Tri-Employment program. This program is offered through Rhode Island's ORS Vocational Rehabilitation Program as one of their Pre-Employment Transition Services for students. The program was provided in collaboration with the West Bay Collaborative and Cranston West High School. Students from Cranston West High School were recognized for all of their accomplishments and completion of the program with a celebratory graduation. The Tri-Employment program is a six-month after school program that provides work readiness training for students with disabilities who are applicants or non-applicants to ORS. These work readiness opportunities are designed to engage and expose students to the interpersonal, supervisory, and performance expectations of work. Cranston West students who participated in the program attended a series of workshops to learn about work settings, communication while at work, and the skills needed to be successfully employed. They then had the opportunity to practice the interpersonal and work skills they learned by participating in a ten-hour per week paid integrated work experience. While in the integrated work environment, the students continued to receive support around understanding work demands and performance expectations. At the completion of the program, many of the students were able to secure permanent employment by their host employer. Congratulations to all the youth from Cranston West High School who successfully completed the program and have found employment! A special shout out to our Rehabilitation Counselor Laura Albee for her dedicated work providing support and opportunities to each student in the program.
